High-quality biochar

Analysis of biochar from Kenya in Germany

I am often asked whether biochar is not contaminated with heavy metals and other pollutants when it comes from African waters.

After all, wastewater from villages and cities usually runs into these waters.

It always depends on which bodies of water are involved and whether industrial wastewater flows in.

We can only clarify this on a case-by-case basis.

On my last trip to Kenya in June 2023, I took samples of biochar with me.

The biochar comes from Salvinia molesta from Lake Ol’Bolossat. This is about a 2-hour drive north of Nairobi.

Back in Germany, we sent a sample to AGROLAB. AGROLAB is a renowned laboratory in Germany that analyzes millions of samples every year.

The laboratory analyses show that the heavy metal levels are far below the legal limits for compost from organic waste in Germany.

The biochar from Salvinia molesta from Lake Ol’Bolossat can therefore be spread without hesitation.

Just look at the scan of the laboratory analysis.
I have entered the values from the Biowaste Ordinance by hand.

Just press download.
